Samsung Hits Pause on One UI 7 Rollout Due to Major Bug
Samsung’s highly anticipated One UI 7 update, which comes with Android 15 and several AI-powered enhancements, has hit an unexpected roadblock. The tech giant has paused the global rollout of the update after discovering a critical bug that’s causing serious issues for users — particularly for those using the latest Galaxy S24 series.
🔒 The Problem: Locked Out of Devices
Early adopters of the One UI 7 update in South Korea began reporting a concerning issue — after installing the update, some users found themselves unable to unlock their phones. The issue was so severe that Samsung quickly pulled the update from its servers to prevent further users from being affected.
Even though the update had already reached users in the U.S. and other regions by April 10, Samsung has since taken the drastic step of reverting back to older firmware versions.
🧪 What Went Wrong?
Samsung has yet to release an official statement, but this pause has sparked criticism of their software testing process. One UI 7 went through an extended beta phase, which should have caught major bugs before the public release. However, this incident raises serious concerns about the final round of quality checks.
🤔 What Should You Do?
If you’ve already updated to One UI 7 and haven’t encountered any issues, you’re in the clear — for now. But if your phone is acting up, especially with lock screen-related bugs, it’s best to:
- Avoid restarting your phone unnecessarily.
- Backup important data immediately.
- Keep an eye on official Samsung forums or the Samsung Members app for emergency patches or rollback instructions.
If you haven’t updated yet, it’s safest to wait until Samsung reissues a fixed version.
🗓️ What’s Next?
As of now, there’s no timeline for when the One UI 7 update will resume. Samsung is likely working behind the scenes to identify and patch the bug before re-releasing it to the public.
For now, caution is key. It's disappointing, especially for users looking forward to Android 15 features, but it's better to wait than risk being locked out of your own device.
📌 Stay tuned for more updates — I’ll keep you posted as soon as Samsung officially addresses the issue or releases a revised update.
